Being Thankful
It's Thanksgiving Day!
As I was cooking our annual Jambalaya and Apple Pie, I couldn't help but think how it doesn't feel like Thanksgiving this year. It could be the weather. It's raining and a bit warmer than normal here in Texas. Or it could just be I'm an adult and the holidays don't have the magical thrill they used to have when I was a child.
Nevertheless, I have a lot to be thankful for this year. I'm thankful for...
...my husband, Andrew. He is my rock, and I don't know where I would be without him.
...my 4 kids. Yes, they drive me out of my mind most of the time, but I love them anyway.
...my parents who moved back to Texas to be closer to me and their grandchildren. Some days it's hard to ask for help, but knowing I have it makes a world of a difference.
...our house. We live in a great neighborhood with top notch schools.
...my friends. You know the ones I'm talking about. Those friends who know every dirty secret about you as you do them, but we keep our mouths closed because we love each other. The friends who you don't see for years but you pick up right where you left off. The ones you know you can count on no matter what.
...my books and Kindle. I know it seems weird to most I'm thankful to read, but it is one of those things that lets me relax and escape the normal chaos of my life for a few minutes.
...my photography friends. These ladies keep me up when I'm feeling low and are always supporting each other. I'm blessed to have found these ladies!
...my photography. To be able to capture my kids childhood on camera and share it with them when they're adults is priceless to me. I want them to look back through albums and know I captured their personalities and life events for them, not for myself.
...and my awesome husband! Yea, I'm putting him on here twice because he rocks that much!
With the craziness of the holidays commencing tomorrow, I'm going to relax and live it up today.
Happy Thanksgiving!
And now, I'm going to fix myself a drink because it's Thanksgiving! :)
