Father's Day is around the corner! | Austin and Round Rock Family Photographer

As crazy as this year has been, I usually can’t even tell you what day it is. I’m lucky if I know what day of the week it is most days!

Father’s Day is June 21 this year! It’s only a month away!

I love photographing Dad’s and their kids! I get to see the sweet special bonds between Dad and daughter, and the Bro bounds between Father and Son. As much as I love photographing Dads and their kids, Dads can be a tough nut to crack when it comes to getting them to participate in family photos. It doesn’t have to be though! Here are a few of my favorite tricks to get Dad to loosen up and have fun during family photos.

Hugs and Kisses
Giving your kids hugs and kisses is one of the most natural things for parents. Dads love giving big hugs! Plus when they inevitably squeeze really tight, everyone starts giggling and laughing!

Get up and moving!
Nothing is more boring than sitting in one place, looking at a camera, and smiling (for both kids and adults!). Having Dad interact with their kids by walking around, throwing them up in the air, and playing a small game of tag are all fun things to do!

Tell a Dad Joke
Although when we hear them we always roll our eyes, Dad jokes make us smile too. They are corny and perfect for getting Dad more involved photo shoot.

Tickle, Tickle!
I think this one is my favorite! Probably because my own Dad did this to me all the time, and my husband does it to our children. Tickling is pretty much guaranteed to get everyone smiling and laughing!
